What we do
Eight services across Wakefield, Ossett, Horbury, Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford. Hard landscaping is the core of it: drives, patios, walls and steps, with artificial grass and garden features alongside. One small team prices the work and does it, with tarmac surfacing laid by our partners.

Driveways
Block paving and natural stone laid over a dug-out and compacted sub-base, with the edgings haunched and the drainage settled before the surface goes down. Tarmac surfacing is laid by our partners.

Tarmac
Long drives, shared entrances and big frontages. One continuous surface over a dug-out and compacted base, held by haunched edgings so it cannot crumble at the margins.

Patios
Sandstone and Indian stone flags on a full mortar bed, laid to a pattern that suits the flag sizes and set to fall away from the house.

Walling
Garden walls and retaining walls in brick or natural stone, built off a proper footing with the coping and the brick picked to sit with the house.

Steps
Bullnose entrance steps and garden steps between levels, built with the risers even the whole way up so the climb is safe in the dark.

Paving and paths
Sandstone flag paths, front garden paths and shed bases, edged so nothing can creep and laid to shed water rather than hold it.

Artificial grass
Low maintenance turf over a stone and grit base, pinned and edged properly, in the Playing Field, Summer Lawn and Village Green styles.

Garden features
Brick and stone bars, outdoor kitchens, barbecues and pizza ovens built into the patio, with the ducting for lighting set in as the walls go up.
The part that is the same on every job
People choose between surfaces. What actually decides whether a drive is still flat in ten years is what sits under it. Every hard surface we quote gets dug out to formation, a sub-base laid and compacted in layers, edges set on concrete before the surface goes down, and a fall that takes water away from the house instead of towards it.
The rest is the same idea with different materials. Artificial grass lives or dies on the base underneath it, and a retaining wall or a set of steps on a sloping garden is a structure before it is a feature.
If your ground needs more than the standard build-up, a soakaway, a channel drain, extra depth through made ground, it goes on the quote as its own line with its own price. You should be able to see what you are paying for and set it against another quote line by line.
Two local rules worth knowing before you book
A new front garden surface facing the road needs planning permission in England once it passes five square metres, unless the surface is permeable or the water drains to a lawn or border inside your own boundary. Block paving and flags can be laid to meet that rule, and we design the falls so they do.
A dropped kerb is a separate application to Wakefield Council rather than something we can just build. It is covered in more detail on the driveways page and each town page.
